From L'Iperuranio by Gianni Latronico - 16th Part
This “visual poetry” summarizes the concepts that are the basis for the artistic current named Optical Art or Op Art: art in movement.
The essence of abstract perceptive art is the creation of kinetic mental unreal experiences generated through artifices ably constructed, getting form Gestaltpsychologie’ s studies: perceptive conflicts, discrepancies and ambivalences capture the Op Art receiver’s eye who receives visual stresses that shot the cones and the rods of the retina.

Can you see the grey spots where the dark lines intersect?

Can you see the grey spots where the white lines intersect?

Do the two white circles have different sizes? Measure them and see for yourself.
Thanks to the “Gestalt principle of ambiguity”, the viewer is provoked in order that, corresponding to author’s intentions, it becomes a work construction process partner. The visual is decomposed scanned into modules and with optical illusions the static shapes acquires life and mobility with the complicity of the viewer’s look.
We rediscover these optical effects matching decors and motives of ceramic tile’s to the works of great Op Art exponents.
